Plasma is generated by an inductively coupled plasma (icp) torch by sequencing the orders shown below in the order of occurrence.

A plasma Ar gas flow is introduced into the quartz tube at a rate of 11-17 l/min. - A spark from a Tesla coil ionizes the Ar. -Ar ions and free electrons- are accelerated by a varying magnetic field (H) generated by a high-frequency induction coil. -ions and e- flow in a closed ring path. The resistance to charge flow by -ions and e- causes resistive heating of the plasma. An inductively coupled plasma can be created by directing the energy of a radio frequency generator into a suitable gas (usually ICP argon). Other plasma gases which is used are the helium and the nitrogen. It is important that the plasma gas is clean as impurities in the gas can extinguish the torch
