The molarity of diluted solution of ba(ch3coo)2 with initial molarity of 0.1 M and diluted to 2 L is 0.008 M

Calculating molarity of the new solution (M2) we use following formula

M1*V1=M2*V2

The molarity of ba(ch3coo)2 before dilution is 0.1 M and volume (V1) is 160 ml when converted to liter = 0.16L

while the the new molarity M2 is to be calculated and diluted to 2 L.

0.100*0.16= M2*2

M2= 0.1*0.16/2

M2= 0.016/2

M2= 0.008 M

What is molarity?

  • A chemical species' concentration in a solution, specifically the amount of a solute per unit volume of solution, is measured by its molar concentration.
  • The number of moles per liter, denoted by the unit symbol mol/L or mol/dm3 in SI units, is the most widely used unit for molarity in chemistry.
