Goven,

The function is passes through point (1, -8).

The slope of the function is 2.

The standard equation of function is,

[tex](y-y_1)=m(x-x_1)[/tex]

Substituting the values then,

[tex]\begin{gathered} (y-(-8))=2(x-1_{}) \\ y+8=2x-2 \\ y=2x-10 \end{gathered}[/tex]

To get the zeroes of the function take y = 0 then,

[tex]\begin{gathered} 0=2x-10 \\ x=5 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Hence, the zeroes of the function is 5.
