If the patient is coughing and choking during NG tube insertion, the NG tube is likely in the trachea and not in the esophagus. Pull back the tube to remove it from the trachea and reinsert the tube to place it in the esophagus.
Because The patient is choking and that means that somthing is not right so taking the extra step could help you in the long runn!!
