The Mycenaean practice of placing death masks over the deceased's face is reminiscent of the Egyptians. 
Egyptians used to do this when their pharaohs died, so as to preserve their body intact. You surely know of Tutankhamun's mask, it is quite famous and can be seen anywhere around the Internet.
