Mr. Bennet threatened to never see Elizabeth again if she accepts the marriage proposal of Mr. Collins. 

Mrs. Bennet is suprised by what Mr. Bennet did because it is the exact opposite of what she did to Elizabehth. Mrs. Bennet threatened to never see Elizabeth if she does not accept Mr. Collins' proposal.

The exchange of her parents amused Elizabeth, who has no plans to accept Mr. Collins' proposal.
