Given,

The mass of the block, m=3 kg

The force with which the block was pulled, F=14.9 N

From Newton's second law of motion, the force applied to an object is equal to the product of the mass of the object and the acceleration produced in the object due to the applied force.

Thus the force F is equal to,

[tex]F=ma[/tex]

Where a is the resultant acceleration of the block.

On substituting the known values in the above equation,

[tex]\begin{gathered} 14.9=3\times a \\ \Rightarrow a=\frac{14.9}{3} \\ =5\text{ m/s}^2 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Thus the resultant acceleration of the block is 5 m/s²
