Given
BAKING Chelsea is baking pies for a fundraiser at her school. She
divides each 9-inch pie into 6 equal slices.
Step 1
Find the area of circle
[tex]\begin{gathered} r=9 \\ \text{Area of circle =}\pi r^2 \\ \text{Area of the circular pie =}\pi9^2 \\ \\ \text{Area of the circular pie =}81\pi \end{gathered}[/tex]
Step 2
She divides each 9-inch pie into 6 equal slices.
[tex]\frac{81\pi}{6}=\frac{27\pi}{2}[/tex]
The area in square inches, for each slice of pie
[tex]\frac{27\pi}{2}=\: 42.4115inches^2[/tex]
Part B
If each slice costs $0.25 to make and she sells 8 pies at $1.25 for each slice
[tex]\begin{gathered} 1\text{ pie =6slices} \\ 8\text{ pie =6}\times8 \\ 8\text{ pie =48 slices} \end{gathered}[/tex]
Now
To make pie
[tex]48\times0.25=12[/tex]
sells
[tex]48\times1.25=60[/tex]
Profit = S. p - C.P
[tex]60-12\text{ =\$48}[/tex]
