In poems, two main things help the poem to go in motion. These two things are a meter and structure. To begin a poem, you need to create a meter that will surround the poem, think of the meter as a beat of a drum in a song. The meter is the pattern that the poem will have trough out the stanzas of its syllables, whether this being ABAB, AABB, or just AAAA and the other way around. Now with the meter out of the way, the next thing to creating a poem is its structure. Now the structure is what helps to bring the poem to life, think the structure the foundation of a house without it the house would never be able to stand. It goes the same way for a poem without its construction; the poem would have no rhythm to it. Now with both the meter and structure combined it would bring the poem to life, both of these items will affect how the poem will take in the aspect of the meaning and the idea behind the poem. So, yes in all retrospect the meter and structure do have some strings in how the poem sets forth the purpose of its words.
