since the 2 ines of the parallelogram represent the diagonals

the diagonals of a parallelogram will always bisect each other

thismeans the point formed in the middle will always be the midpoint of each diagonal.

then

$2x-2=x+2$$2x-x=2+2$$x=4$

and

$5y-8=y+24$$5y-y=24+8$$4y=32$$y=\frac{32}{4}$$y=8$

then

x=4

y=8
