The Slope of a Line

Given a line that passes through the points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2), the slope of the line is calculated as follows:

[tex]m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

The graphed line passes through (0, -2) and (1, 4). Substituting:

[tex]\begin{gathered} m=\frac{4-(-2)}{1-0} \\ \text{Operating:} \\ m=\frac{4+2}{1} \\ \boxed{m=6^{}} \end{gathered}[/tex]

The slope of the line is 6
