Qualitative Data

Qualitative data describes qualities and characteristics. It is data that is not easily reduced to numbers. It tends to answer questions about the what, how, and why, rather than how many or how much.

Discrete Data

Discrete data usually involves counting rather than measuring. This type of data cannot be subdivided into different parts. Examples of discrete data would be number of customers in a store, number ot tv's bought.

Continuous Data

Continuous data is the opposite of discrete data in a sense that it is measured rather than counted. It refers to unspecified number of possible measurements between two realistic points. Examples are speed, temperature, weight.
