The Cuban Son is a style of music and dance that originated in Cuba. This rhythm combines the structure and characteristics of Spanish music with Afro-Cuban musical elements and instruments, especially some Bantu music elements. It is currently one of the most influential genres of Latin American music and has given rise to other musical genres such as mambo and salsa.
Now, the pregón is proclamation or announcement made aloud in public places, which originated as a costume in the Roman empire and later in Spain and its colonies.
In this context, in Cuba the pregón was born in the 19th century in neighborhoods, streets, corners of every city and town of the country.
In other words, it is born of street vendors, as a medium of artisanal advertising, where the throat is the main instrument. It was more like a song, sometimes with melancholy, sometimes joyful. This over time was integrated into the Cuban Son, composing picturesque songs like the famous "Manisero", for example.
