We can divide the street sign in three figures. First, we can make a rectangle with the post:

the area of this rectangle is:

next, with the sign we can make a square and a rectangle like this:

which have the following areas:

Now we add all the areas to get the total painted area:

$A=A_r+A_s+A_t=600+144+24=768in^2$

therefore, the painted area is 768 in^2
