Stella is running a bakery. She has made a street sign to direct people to herbakery. She painted one side of the post and sign. What is the painted area?

We can divide the street sign in three figures. First, we can make a rectangle with the post:
the area of this rectangle is:
[tex]A_r=(8)(75)=600in^2[/tex]next, with the sign we can make a square and a rectangle like this:
which have the following areas:
[tex]\begin{gathered} A_s=(12)(12)=144in^2 \\ A_t=\frac{(12)(4)}{2}=\frac{48}{2}=24in^2 \end{gathered}[/tex]Now we add all the areas to get the total painted area:
[tex]A=A_r+A_s+A_t=600+144+24=768in^2[/tex]therefore, the painted area is 768 in^2
