Accumulation of snow
We have three moments:
1. The first snowfall of the winter will began at midnight. Snow will accumulate at a rate of 1/2 inch per hour for 4 hours.
2. From 4:00am until 8:00am, the snowfall is expected to be heavy, with snow accumulating at a rate of 1 inch per hour.
3. The snow will then taper off but continue to fall at a rate of 1/4 inch per hour until noon.”
We have that from midnight to noon, the snow will be accumulated. This is, the accumulated snow will grow and grow.
The first graph: shows that the accumulated snow grows and then, at 4AM it suddenly becomes 0 again, and starts to be accumulated to 8AM, and then, suddenly it desappears again, until start being accumulated again until noon.
This is NOT the answer sice it does not have sense (the fallen snow cannot desappear!).
The second graph: shows that the accumulated snow grwos and then its stops, it remains the same, and then it starts to desappear little by little.
This is NOT the answer either, since it does not describe the situation.
The third graph: shows that from midnight to 4AM the accumulation is equal (there is not snow fall), then, suddenly it increments and remains equal again, and finally it suddenly decreases.
This is NOT the answer either, since it does not describe the situation.
The last graph: this is the only plot that shows that the accumulated snow grows and grows.
This is the answer.
