Well, the Treaty of Versailles was a supposal peace settlement, made by the heads of the allies, US, UK and FR. But ofc it did not bring peace, rather stirred up more anger and hatred by the Germans, towards the allies.
In Germany's eyes, the treaty was harsh "...starvation of our children..." (unknown - speech by German), and unfair. They didn't believe they deserved any of it, in fact, they felt that their actions aided them in the war, and helped their country rise the podium - to be the best and like Trump and Hitler like to say "To make [Germany] great again" lol...
Anyways, the treaty did stop Germany completely. Yeah ok, they took some of their possessions, but they didn't cut off their oil supplies, meaning Germany were able to use their leftover tanks and sanctions.
Reparations weren't even a full account, thanks to the Young Plan (US loaning) Germany's reparations were lessened.
I hope this helped :)
