Problem Set A 1 If a linear function has a slope of 3 and passes through the points a5 and 24a what is the value of a 2 Write the equation of gx given the table class=

Respuesta :

Question 1 :

Given the slope of the linear function = 3

the line passes though the points ( a , -5 ) and ( -2 , 4a )

The slope = Rise/Run

Rise = 4a - (-5) = 4a + 5

Run = -2 - a

So,

[tex]\begin{gathered} \frac{4a+5}{-2-a}=3 \\ \\ 4a+5=3\cdot(-2-a) \\ 4a+5=-6-3a \\ \end{gathered}[/tex]

combine like terms :

[tex]\begin{gathered} 4a+3a=-6-5 \\ 7a=-11 \\ \\ a=-\frac{11}{7} \end{gathered}[/tex]
