Nicolai, Julie and Glene will paint a wall. They spend a total of 25 hours at work. Julie paints for 6 hours and Glene paints for 8 hours. What percentage of the total time each of them paints? Nicolai painted % of the time, Julie painted % of the time, and Glene painted % of the time.

Respuesta :

Let J be the amount of time Julie paints

G for Glene

and

N for Nicolai

They paint a total of 25 hours.

So we can expressed this total hours by :

[tex]J+G+N=25[/tex]

Since Julie paints for 6 hours, J = 6

Glene for 8 hours, G = 8

Nicolai will be :

[tex]\begin{gathered} 6+8+N=25 \\ N=25-6-8 \\ N=11 \end{gathered}[/tex]

To get the percentage of each person, divide their time to the total hours of work multiplied by 100 :

[tex]\%=\frac{\text{time}}{\text{total time}}\times100[/tex]

Answers :

For Nicolai :

[tex]\%=\frac{11}{25}\times100=44\%[/tex]

For Julie :

[tex]\%=\frac{6}{25}\times100=24\%[/tex]

For Glene :

[tex]\%=\frac{8}{25}\times100=32\%[/tex]

To check if the answers are correct, the sum of the percentages MUST BE equal to 100.

Checking :

[tex]44\%+24\%+32\%=100\%[/tex]

Therefore, the answers are correct.
