When an aqueous solution of sodium nitrate is mixed with an aqueous solution of barium chloride, barium nitrate and sodium chloride will be formed in an aqueous solution.

Chemical reactions

An aqueous solution of barium chloride goes by the chemical formula, [tex]BaCl_2 (aq)[/tex].

An aqueous solution of sodium nitrate goes by the chemical formula, [tex]NaNO_3 (aq)[/tex].

When both react, barium nitrate and sodium chloride are formed.

Barium nitrate goes by the chemical formula, [tex]Ba(NO_3)_2[/tex].

Sodium chloride goes by the chemical formula, NaCl

The whole chemical reaction is represented by the equation:

[tex]BaCl_2 (aq)+ 2NaNO_3 (aq) -- > Ba(NO_3)_2 (aq)+ 2NaCl (aq)[/tex]

Since both of the products formed are soluble in an aqueous form, no precipitate is formed from the reaction.
