Generally,  Clark was given the responsibility of recruiting troops for Lewis and Clark's "Corps of Volunteers for Northwest Discovery," often known as the Corps of Discovery.

During the winter of 1803-1804, Lewis and Clark spent their time at Camp DuBois, which is located north of St. Louis, Missouri, recruiting and training troops.

In conclusion, Both Lewis and Clark's expeditions were dubbed "the Corps of Discovery" by their respective crews.
