The regions of the world were not as interconnected as we might think.
The people in each region lived and worked in a unique way, and had a unique way of viewing the world around them. The cultures were different, as were their religious beliefs, and their ideas about how nature was organized.
There was also little interaction between these distant regions due to geographic barriers like mountains or oceans. Even when there were no physical barriers, there were cultural barriers that prevented interaction between groups. For example, if one group believed in one kind of religion, then they would not have much contact with another group who believed in another kind of religion.
Therefore, while there may have been trade routes between some regions (such as Southeast Asia), it was not enough to make all regions connected to each other at all times throughout history.
