Lindell was born in Mankato, Minnesota in 1961. He grew up in Chaska and Carver, Minnesota. Lindell's gambling addiction began to manifest during his teenage years. After his high school graduation, he attended the University of Minnesota but dropped out after a few months.
During his twenties, Lindell became addicted to and used it frequently. This addiction worsened after Crack switched to cocaine in the 1990s. Lindell also accumulated gambling debts. His cumulative addiction in the 1980s and 1990s led to his house being foreclosed and his wife filing for divorce. Lindell says that prayer calmed her down in 2009.
Lindell operates his two websites under the Frank brand, focusing on his streaming video and his social network FrankSocial. In March 2021, Lindell laid out a detailed plan for Vocal his platform for alternative technology social media that he had been developing for several months. He described the site as a cross between his and unlike Gab and Parler. Due to a dispute with the company that owns the Vocal website Lindel rebrands his website to Frank.
