Jabeen Akhtar learned as a teen that striving to be an amazing immigrant can lead to doing untrue things. The dull, endless hole of mediocrity could be filled with lies, which would always be superior. But I've always aspired to be exceptional, to hold a unique position in those black and white pages or in my peers' minds. Because of who I truly was, I knew it would never happen on the basis of merit. I lied as a result. A falsehood was a quick route to success. A lie could contribute to filling the mediocre, endless hole. So that's the reason of lying in high school about knowing Karate.
