The Code of Hammurabi showed preference to certain people by giving them lesser punishment than others for the same crimes.

How was the Code of Hammurabi biased?

The Code of Hammurabi was one of the first collection of laws in human history and although it was to treat people equally, it favored certain people over others by prescribing lesser punishments for the same crimes committed.

The rich people and the nobles and royals for instance, did not have to be injured as well when they injured commoners. They just needed to pay a small fine and they would be let off the hook.

Men also had more rights than women for instance a man would not be punished for adultery but a woman would be executed.
