A rocket accelerates from 20 m/s to 37 m/s in 2.8 s. What was its acceleration? How far
did it travel in this time? Assume constant acceleration.

Respuesta :

The acceleration is obtained as 6.1 m/s^2 while the distance is obtained as 79.4 m.

What is the acceleration?

The term acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity with time. Now we know that the acceleration ca be determined by the use of the formula;

a = v - u/t

a = acceleration

v = final velocity

u = initial velocity

t = time taken

Thus;

a = 37 - 20/2.8

a = 6.1 m/s^2

Given that;

v^2 = u^2 + 2as

s = v^2 - u^2/2a

s = (37)^2 - (20)^2/2(6.1)

s = 969/12.2

s= 79.4 m
