Bias Rule. The historians  second rule is the bias rule. It says that every source is biased in some way. Documents tell us only what the creator of the document thought happened or perhaps only what the creator wants us to think happened.

Primary sources are biased. Bias is a tendency toward a particular feeling  inclination or point of view. Anything you write will reflect your thoughts and inclinations Often when bias is discussed we hear about a bias against a people group racist or ageism.
