The Yellow River in the north and the Yangtze (or Yangzi) River in the south are the sources of much of the water that flows through the piedmont and across the coastal plain.
China proper is traversed by these two rivers. In actuality, these two rivers' drainage basins make up the majority of China Proper. Both come from the Tibetan plateau's extreme west. The Xi River, which flows through southern China, is substantially smaller.
