Louis Pasteur (1822-1895) was a french scientist and one of the greatest researches worlwide. His studies impulsed and helped to develop modern microbiology.
In 1856 he began one of his most significant studies. He discovered that fermentation was closely related to microorganisms presence. And fermenting microorganisms were related to diseases.
After that, he carried out studies about sterilization and desinfection to avoid intoxications -Pasteurization. He discovered that by heating products, microorganisms die and do not affect the food, avoiding intoxications.
In this way, by heating different products like milk, he could reject the Theory of spontaneous generation. He showed that in hermetically sealed containers previously subjected to treatments to eliminate microorganisms, life did not proliferate.
