Average velocity is total displacement over total time. It can be expressed mathematically as:

Where [tex]\displaystyle{\vec{v}}[/tex] is velocity and [tex]\displaystyle{\vec{s}}[/tex] is displacement. Note that displacement means changes in position (final position - initial position)
Our initial position is at 0 blocks and then after travelling to the final destination, we see from the picture that it ends at position of 2 blocks. That can be calculated by subtracting 5 by 3 which will equal to 2 blocks.
