What was the Starving Time?

It was a period of disease, violence, drought, a meager harvest followed by a harsh winter and poor drinking water left the majority of colonists dead that winter.

The Jamestown Colony experienced a hunger crisis known as "The Starving Time." At the start of the winter, Jamestown had about 500 residents but by the time spring came, only 61 people were still alive.
