Describe the signs of two rational numbers when (a) their sum is positive, (b) their product is positive, and (c) their quotient is
positive. Give examples to support your answers.

Respuesta :

The sign of rational number

a) if there sum is positive, then both of the rational number is positive and will have a '+' sign.

Example :-  4 + 4 = 8

b) their product is positive , then when both of them is negative or both of them is positive.

Example :- 4 x 4 = 16

                - 4 x (-4) = 16

c) their quotient is positive then when both of them is negative or both of them is positive.

Example :- ab / cd , -ab/ - cd

In mathematics, a rational number is a number that can be expressed as the quotient or fraction p/q of two integers, a numerator p and a non-zero denominator q.

Any fraction with non-zero denominators is a rational number. Some of the examples of rational numbers are 1/2, 1/5, 3/4, and so on.

For example 4 is a rational number because it satisfies the condition of rational numbers. 4 can be expressed as a ratio such as 4/1, where the denominator is not equal to zero.
