Autotrophs, on the other hand, are living organisms that have the capacity to manufacture their own foods without depending on any external source. They are able to do so by a process known as photosynthesis. They use inorganic carbon dioxide and water to manufacture carbohydrates.
All animals are heterotrophic. Thus, any animal you see around you will pass as a heterotroph.
All plants are autotrophic. Thus, any green plant you see around you will pass as an autotroph.
