During a simple partial seizure, the patient remains conscious throughout the seizure event. This type of seizure results from changes in activity on only one side of the brain. During the seizure, the person is also able to talk. This type of seizure is very quick and lasts only for a minute or two. There are various symptoms or signs that may occur during this seizure.
In all the other types of seizures, the patient loses consciousness. As this type of seizure affects only one part of the brain, in this the patients do not lose consciousness. There are two types of simple partial seizures. They are motor which affects the muscles of the body and sensory which affects the senses of the body.
While the simple partial seizure is going on, the patient remains conscious. If they become unconscious then the seizure is called a complex partial seizure.
