Roll the client in a blanket.
When someone's clothes catch fire, they can put it out by stopping, dropping to the ground, and rolling ("stop, drop, and roll"); they can use anything at hand to do so, such as a blanket, or rug, or coat. The elderly person or other individuals with less mobility may be told to "stop, sit, and pat" in order to avoid concurrent musculoskeletal injuries.
The patient shouldn't be kept in any posture other than the horizontal or quickly covered with a damp cloth. On the other hand, IV fluid therapy should be given while travelling to the hospital. By this, the risk of further injury to the affected person can be minimized.
