The way that comic books still need to advance is by getting more creative with their methods of delivery to be able to penetrate disadvantaged people like those that are blind or those that have special needs.
How are the comic books advanced?
Gone are the days when comics were used for just imaginary stories or for some type of fun character depicted. These days comic books are being used to improve Literary Skills by educating learners of all ages.
The way that comic books have advanced are that;
1) Motivation; Adults who struggle with reading or are not able to read at all can be intimidated by books that are voluminous. However, comic books solves this problem by having little amounts of texts and these small amounts of text helps the struggling readers to get a lot of details without having to read too many words than they would like.
2) Reading Comprehension; The sequential artwork in comic books lays the foundation for building reading comprehension skills. Reading comic books by interacting with both the text and images helps the reader to easily comprehend and visualize the story which creates better comprehension skills.
3) Dialogue: In comic books, readers are exposed to a great deal of dialogues which is valuable for English language learners.
4) Writing; Comic books contain basic story elements such as setting, characters, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution and as such reading comic books can be a great exercise for adult learners.
5) Vocabulary; Comic books provide a baseline for learning vocabulary because characters in comics are very unique, but are also built around various nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
