France's move to Mississippi & Ohio river, to form allies with American Indians because they wanted to dominate the trading of meat & fur.

The French and Indian War, which lasted from 1754 to 1763, began as a conflict between England and France over control of the Ohio River Valley. Both sides desired the valley in order to expand their settlements into the area.

The French and Indian War arose from the desire of the French and English to claim the land where the Allegheny, Ohio, and Monongahela Rivers meet (present-day Pittsburgh), resulting in a costly war. Both the French and the English thought their explorers were the first to claim this land where three rivers meet. Furthermore, both countries desired to maintain the meat & fur trade with the Native Americans.
