How did slavery in the Caribbean differ from slavery in America?

The practice of slavery was established throughout the European colonization in the Americas especially in the Thirteen Colonies that formed the United States in such that an enslaved person was treated as property that could be bought, sold or given away.

In the Caribbean states, the slaves were held on much larger units with many plantations holding 150 slaves or more while in the American South, only one slaveholder held as many as a thousand slaves and just 125 had over 250 slaves.

Therefore, the practice of slavery was different as an institution in British North America than slavery in the Caribbean in terms of the units at which they operates together.
