When a driver reduces pressure on the brake to allow the vehicle to regain speed they are using trail braking.

Trail braking is a term used to describe the technique of continuously applying light braking while turning into a corner. Trail braking applies a small amount of brake pressure as the car descends to the top. Do not apply much brake pressure in the trail braking zone, as slowing the car is not the primary objective. The main reason for trail braking is to keep weight on the front of the car's nose when turning.
