The lie which Elizabeth told Danford in the act 3 of " The Crucible" was that- "her husband didn't have an affair with the Abigail Williams. As John had recently admitted to the affair, which has greatly undermines his credibility. She claimed the ignorance of John's affair with Abigail.
Although Elizabeth is an honest women , she still lied in the court for the sake of John's fate, Elizabeth showed that she would anything for her husband, even if it means she have to go against her morals. However her dishonesty resulted in her husband's death despite this being the opposite of her intentions.
The consequences of Elizabeth's lie which was the ignorance of her husband's affair with Abigail, were that the John ( Elizabeth's husband) got arrested and the court's confidence in Abigail is restored.
