The geographical knowledge that the white elites had but the salves did not was that of maps, scale, ordinal directions and distance.
The white elites' "deliberate strategy" regarding slaves' geographical intelligence  was limiting their geographical intelligence. This way they were able to capture the slaves, both in their mental as well as physical spheres, leaving no scope of escape for them.
The white elites never let the slaves get acquainted with their surroundings, get familiar with their location or even understand the environment around them. This way they were trapped in a land of unknowns, and had no way other than to obey their masters and carry on this practice of slavery.
