The Allegory of Good and Bad Government model of government was celebrated in Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s allegory of good government.
Three horizontal bars make up the composition in the Allegory of Good Government. The figures of modern-day Siena are seen in the foreground. The citizens serve as figurative representations of the numerous magistrates and civic officials.
Two concords, or weaved cords, connect them. Out from under the Justice scales, harmony gathers. Allegorical characters in two groups standing on a stage behind them symbolize the Good Government. The councilors' procession serves as a bridge between the two factions.
The heavenly sphere and the floating, bodyless ghosts of the virtues are shown in the upper band. The figure of the Commune of Siena has wisdom on its head. He occupies a throne and is shown with a sceptre and orb that stand for temporal authority.
