Crime Control perspective advocates for effective law enforcement, longer sentences, and strict mandatory punishment.

According to the criminal justice paradigm known as "crime control" more police and prosecution authority is necessary if we want to lower crime. Basically, the government should enhance police authority, oversight, and intervention skills in accordance with the crime control paradigm of criminal justice.

Prosecutors should also have the authority and tools necessary to bring charges against offenders after they have been caught. The crime control and due process ideas were created in 1964 by Stanford Law Professor Charles Packer.

Due process, where a large emphasis is placed on individual liberties and rights and where government program are focused at informing the public and rehabilitating criminals, contrasts with the crime control paradigm.
