The voices belong to Annie's brother Jimmy, and she bears responsibility for having abandoned him in the asylum despite knowing he would perish. She convinces Helen's parents that the asylum is a dreadful place for kids to live and asks them not to send Helen there.

The captain felt sympathy and pity after hearing about the mental asylum she and her brother had to endure. The Captain and Mrs. Keller changed their minds as a result of her experience and narration. Being her parent, I would find it upsetting to consider having my child reside there.

• Helen Keller is presented in The Miracle Worker as an unruly, out-of-control youngster who suffers more from her parents' sympathy than from her illness.
• Due to "congestion of the brain and stomach" when she was a baby, she was left blind and deaf.

• Annie describes what it was like to live in an asylum, which was Helen's only alternative choice. Helen's parents decide to give Annie another chance after learning about her awful experience. Captain Keller continues to doubt Annie's capacity for success.

Therefore, Annie convinces Helen's parents that the asylum is a dreadful place for kids to live and asks them not to send Helen there. The captain felt sympathy and pity after hearing about the mental asylum she and her brother had to endure.
