The way the kidney is enabled to carry out its' functions are the processes below;
Each human kidney is made up of approximately one million filtering units called nephrons. Now, each nephron includes a filter, called the glomerulus, and a tubule.
Finally, the nephrons work through a two-step process namely;
- The glomerulus filters your blood. Ultrafiltration in glomerulus - smaller molecules filtered out in the glomerulus (e.g. glucose, water, minerals)
- The tubule returns needed substances to your blood and removes wastes.
