In my personal opinion, I think that President Lincoln did the wrong thing by denying the constitutional rights of the group called Copperheads.

What is a Constitutional Right?

This refers to the human rights that are protected by the Constitution which gives privileges such as freedom of speech, association, etc.

Hence, we can see that during wartime when the president has more power, President Lincoln took away the rights of the Copperheads when he silenced them from protesting the war as this set a bad precedent.
