Who are SHONA peoples ?

  • The Shona peoples were  the largest indigenous people in Zimbabwe, and the language of the tribe is also called Shona (Bantu), with a population of about 9 million.
  • They are found in Zimbabwe and borders of south africa.
  • Shona religion is a mixture of monotheism and ancestor worship ,The Creator Mwari ,is omnipotent.
  • Ancestors and other spirits act as intermediaries between Mwari and the people.

Who are OLMECS ?

  • Olmecs was the earliest known major Mesoamerican civilization.
  • After their progressive development in Soconusco, they occupied the tropical lowlands of what is now Veracruz and Tabasco, Mexico.
  • Olmecs is presumed to be partially derived  from the adjacent Mokaya or Mixe-Zoque culture.
  • Olmec's population declined  between 400 and 350 BC.Archaeologists speculate that  depopulation was caused by changes in the environment, especially river silt that disrupted the supply of water

What are their similarities ?
