In an experiment involving an enzyme, the pH is raised from 2 to 11. What will be the MOST LIKELY effect of this on the reaction?

Respuesta :

The pH of the solution affects the ionization of the R group of the amino acids in the enzyme. Changing the ionization affects the bonding of the protein. resulting in the affecting of the shape.  Therefore, the substrate binding to the site will lessen causing a reduce enzyme activity. But this depends on the type of enzyme and its optimum pH level.
