Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice
From what i've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think i know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great

Now while I'm not to sure as to what question means exactly means, and I'm sorry if I'm wrong but, if it means what I think it means then,

The speaker was thinking if the age-old question as to whether the world will end in fire or in ice, and this is very similar to another age-old question: whether it would be preferable to freeze to death or burn to death. The speaker determines as well
