Close your left eye and stare directly at the A below. Try not to shift your gaze. While keeping
your gaze of your right eye fixed on the A, hold the book at different distances until the black dot
to the right of A disappears. You havo just placed it onto your blind spot! (Usually happens at
about 8 inches.)

It is blind because that region of the retina lacks photoreceptors.

Light falling on the blind spot is not perceived and as such, vision is not possible in the blind spot.

The blind spot for individuals vary and a blind spot test is done to determine the blind spot of each individual.
