The explanations in both of these stories are the same because they both talk about fire and how people that had it in abundance kept it from others till it was stolen.
The difference in the stories is that the Beaver's story is about trees and animals while the Zeus story is about the gods and humans.
Stealing fire from Zeus
Zeus hid fire from humans due to the fact that he was angry at Prometheus who had tricked him. Prometheus took the fire and gave it to humans who needed it to keep warm and to prepare their meals.
Zeus had kept the fire from humans because he knew that Prometheus cared about humans. He wanted to hurt him.
Prometheus stole a spark of fire from the hearth place that the gods made their fire.
How beaver stole fire
Beaver stole fire from the pine trees. These trees were the only ones that had access to fire. No one else did.
He stole a live coal that rolled towards him when the pines were in a meeting. Even tough he was chased by the trees, they were unable to catch up with him.
The beaver distributed the fire to the other entities that needed it as he ran from the cedar.
